The trumpet is a brass instrument. To play the trumpet, you gently press your lips together and blow to make a buzzing sound. The mouthpiece is placed on the lips and amplifies the same buzzing sound. Place the mouthpiece in the instrument and do the same thing and you'll have that bright trumpet sound! Pushing down valves helps to change the pitch on the trumpet.
